On September 17, 2025, the Biotech Venture Pathway Project successfully held two online information sessions to provide a comprehensive overview of its free, dual-track training programme. The sessions, attended by hundreds of prospective participants from across Europe, officially marked the final preparatory phase before the programme’s launch in October.
The events were hosted by representatives from the project’s team, including the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and SILO Company. The speakers outlined the programme’s core mission: to bridge the critical gap between academic research and real-world biotech innovation.
The first session, tailored for students and researchers, highlighted the programme’s hands-on approach to entrepreneurship. Participants were informed about key learning modules covering essential topics such as intellectual property (IP) strategy, technology transfer, business model development, and effective scientific communication. The session emphasised that the programme is designed to equip future innovators with the mindset and tools to turn scientific breakthroughs into tangible ventures, with additional benefits including access to a biotech career event and potential internships.

The second session was specifically for academic and professional staff, focusing on the programme’s unique role in fostering institutional change. Representatives explained how the course will provide staff with concrete tools to drive innovation within their own universities, from supporting student entrepreneurship to strengthening tech transfer mechanisms. The discussion centred on building a strong innovation culture from within, with the programme offering a certificate of completion that validates a participant’s role in creating an innovation-ready institution.
