Biotech Venture Pathway Consortium to Meet in Gran Canaria, Connecting with Local Innovation Ecosystem

11/3/2025

The Biotech Venture Pathway Consortium is set to convene its partners in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 5, 2025, for a key project meeting and staff exchange. This event is strategically timed to coincide with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s (ULPGC) Patents Week (November 4-6), allowing the international partners to deeply engage with the local innovation ecosystem.

Consortium Meeting and Staff Exchange

The official Consortium Meeting will take place on November 5 at the Sala La Palma, Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. Project partners, including representatives from ULPGC, the University of the Azores (UAC), the Science and Innovation Link Office (SILO), Fundación Parque Científico Tecnológico ULPGC (FCPCT), the University of Calabria (UNICAL), and Consulta Europa (CE), will review progress across all work packages, from Regional Innovation Ecosystem Enhancement (WP1) to the Start-up Creation and Validation Program (WP4) and Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation (WP5).

This gathering marks a significant moment for the project, which operates under the EIT HEI Initiative on Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education.

Connecting with Spain’s Patents Innovation Hub

Taking advantage of their presence in Gran Canaria, the consortium partners will seize the opportunity to interact with local stakeholders, researchers, and students via the networking activities hosted by ULPGC during its Patents Week.

The Patents Week by ULPGC is a pioneering event in Spain, established in 2018 as the leading meeting point for patents, research, knowledge transfer, and technological innovation. Held every two years, the 2025 edition is particularly relevant as it focuses on the theme of biotechnology. The Biotech Venture Pathway Project’s connection with this event will enable the exchange of best practices, foster new collaborations, and actively seek opportunities to validate entrepreneurial concepts within the ULPGC campus.

By scheduling the Consortium Meeting during Patents Week, the Biotech Venture partners will optimise their effect by immediately linking the project’s aims of technology transfer and start-up formation (WP3 & WP4) with a dedicated audience of intellectual property specialists and entrepreneurial talent.
