University of the Azores

Founded in 1976, the University of the Azores (UAc) has become a key driver of the region’s socio-economic development and a centre of excellence in education and research, particularly in marine and island-related studies. UAc conducts research and academic activities across a wide range of fields, including Marine Sciences, Technological and Environmental Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, and Social Sciences. While still a relatively young institution, UAc’s strong growth is fuelled by the dedication and motivation of its staff and students, who work to maintain a close and meaningful connection between the university and the surrounding socio-economic landscape.
